Jim, Elaine and their two daughters moved onto StillWater Retreat in 1991 and formed StillWater Ministries, Inc., a 501-C-3 nonprofit organization. For ten years StillWater conducted after school outreaches in the inner city of Fort Wayne.
Along with Elaine, his wife, Jim leads frequent mission trips to South Africa and trains and regularly sends teams there to do camps for underprivileged children.
